Hari Sukan Negara 2016 (21K - Dataran Merdeka)

Hari Sukan Negara 2016 (21K - Dataran Merdeka) #hsn21k #HM #HSN2016 #AnonymousRunners#DRunnersConspiracy #myRun #DataranMerdeka#HalfMarathon #21k

As expected this is supposed to be a smooth running and well organised event, under the nationwide colourful HSN title. Even the REPC on 1-3 Oct was fairly well organised. Personally, i like the running vest (design, colour n fit) and for the first time i decided to wear it (a vest) during the actual event.

Dataran Merdeka has always been a great venue for big sports event, and i kinda like the short driving distant from home. But i always find it hard to be comfortable with choices of parking area, especially with stories of car break-ins lately. Initially intended to park along the Jalan Bunus area but then decided to move to Wisma Campbell car park. Not really a wise decision either as it cost me RM17 for a 4-hrs parking.... Flag off for 21k was on the dot as scheduled at 6:00am, leaving a short gap for Subuh prayer just before the FO. Managed to slip through into the mid-section of the starting line-up then out of nowhere bumped with Marzuki Khalid, and then few moments later, bumped with Razman Shah and Mohd Yusnisan. Wow... its really been a while not running with these guys. I started quite ok for the first 10k, with average pace of ard 4:45, quickly thinking about improving my last HM timing of 1:46. But the second 10k was a great challenge, feeling uncomfortable with my right thigh and the glutes area. Start slowing down a bit to avoid potential cramping but never really get any better. Stopped couple of times, walk-run along the way, taking more juices at WS, and i can feel the pain on my right leg deteriorating. Its a sinking feeling having runners passed me by including Isey and Zamri Harun. Tried to maintain close distance with the two of them, but at KM16, my av. pace already dropped to 6:16 and Isey nowhere within sight, while Zamri Harun also struggled with cramp. The walk-run-walk continued till the finish line clocking 2:01 (pending official timing). Nowadays I am not sure how accurate my F3 recorded over-distance at 22.01km.

Well, the overall route was not bad at all with some elevation range of 13-88 (lucky they give Bukit Tunku a miss). Plenty of WS, direction and km sign here and there. Probably, the only annoying part is traffic, running along with cars and motorcycles, as the route was not fully closed for the event. Police traffic and marshals have tried their best to manage, but runners safety has still being compromised at some point.

As usual, the best part was post running event, meeting and socializing with fellow runners Jesse Erskine Zaini Jai PakJat Growoldlivefit Apix Wallrock Alif James Amir Syahmi Mohd Azmi Mohd Zhariff Khadre AlzmersFadzil Yusoff, etc ......... Congrats guys.

— with Razman Shah and 9 others.
