First time joining this event and I was hoping for a well organised big running event with many past years experience they have had - apparently this is the oldest HM in the country - the 28th. This is also my first running event in PJ, so I have little idea of traffic flow and parking spaces. To make matter worst, I have little motivation left with the lack of training post SCKLM (cannot move on laaa). Thanks to Marzuki Khalid for collecting the race kit, and Fyrus Azim for keeping it safe till the race event. Arrived around 4:00am, parking is smoother than expected as traffic getting heavier. By 4:40am we are already at the FO. Mohd Irwan Bin Ismail feat Fyrus secured the front line alongside his fellow elite runners. I bet he was aiming for podium or pb today, or may be more for the frontpage pix. Razman Shah left us as the 10k cat only started in 30 mnts later. Zaini Jai, Ismail Razali and I continue with wefie before FO. Juki, Mohd Yusnisan and Mohd Rizwan Jamal were at the back, well reserved for late comers.. Hihihi. Anyway, the organiser is still busy puting the SO/FL Arch and timing thingy just few minutes before the FO.
Eventually, FO was on the dot. I dont really mind the hilly route, a last minute change according to the management. But narrow spaces for runners competing with cars and bikes, running through roundabouts, junctions and traffic lights are scary at times. Old roads with uneven surfaces, pot holes and on going construction works can be very annoying. To make matter worst, it was really smelly especially ard the residential area. I wonder what happen with the waste management thingy in PJ. Not much to note on WS here and there, some in a dark spot, some ok with water n 100+, some only with wet sponge, not sure if they have some management issue too?!. Without any progress with training schedule since pre-SCKLM, this is a gamble though. I was hoping to do a sub-2, but it was really a struggle run - struggle to maintain pace, struggle with foot pain here and there, chest pain along the final 5km, i am just glad to finish the run with 2:24 ( the worst HM so far for me).
Well, all in all not a very good run for me, neither an event that i would be looking forward in the future. But happy to meet fellow runners especially from Anonymous Runners and start running again. P/s Congrats to Azrizal Hussin for top 10 position.
